RAM’s investment philosophy is underpinned with deep-rooted investment conviction and supported by important core principles, that are the foundation of everything we do.
Alignment of interests. If our clients do well, we do well. When interests are aligned, mutual trust develops and long-lasting relationships prosper. Our fees are transparent. We have no sales commissions, loads or revenue from third parties, including trailer fees and referral fees.
Clients come first. As a registered portfolio manager in Ontario, RAM has a fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of our clients. RAM provides honest, unbiased advice in accordance with the highest professional and ethical standards.
Pursue excellence. Constant improvement of the process is critical to long-term client success. We must continue to find more efficient ways to do things, improve the client experience and diversify further as opportunities arise.
Be accountable. We are accountable to our clients for the performance of their portfolios. If clients do not feel they get value for their fees then we do not deserve to have them as clients.
Keep it simple. We believe in keeping things simple whenever possible. For the most part, complex investment strategies are more expensive and less reliable than simple, proven approaches. Ignore the noise and avoid short-term tactics, which cause unnecessary stress and expense.
“In the profit-motivated world of Wall Street, fiduciary responsibility takes a backseat to self-interest. What benefits the stockbroker (commissions), the mutual fund manager (large pools of assets), and the financial advisor (high fees) injures the investor. When profit motive meets fiduciary responsibility, profits win and investors lose.”
